How many excuses can we offer about dumbed down music? Its just entertainment....They are just kids.....Hip Hop is misunderstood....Its just a reflection of the street......and so on.
If you are against an artist or group of artists methods, talent, or lack there of, you are a hater. I have been a so called "hater" for some rappers. But as of recent, I have tried to "understand" the business, and cholk many parts of the game up to "simple entertainment".
I even cut some slack for Soulja Boy. Saying "oh the kids just love it" and guessing that anyone over the age of 16 is just listening to it to make fun of it. But after he was on Jimmy Kimmel, a show kids dont watch, and the countless ringtones from college kids of his simple 3 note recording that some people call "music", I realized it wasn't a joke to some people. They actually enjoyed it. I even witnessed comments from grown folks saying "Soulja Boy is The Truth!"
REALLY!!!???
Are we really that stupid?
Like I said, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The barely pronounced lyrics, the string of words he puts together the makes absolutely no sense, I just let it pass by.
But then, I heard the new single "Yahh Trick Yahh". For a brief second, I let it pass. But then, a listened to the actual song. TRULY, the DUMBEST LYRICS I EVER HEARD!!!!
I literally felt dumber when I heard these incoherent lyrics:
"Spit YAHHH TRICK!
Leave me alone
Let me get some peace
I'm sittin at the house shawty and I can't sleep"
If I felt dumber, how much more stupified are kids getting today when they are drawn to Bull$**t like this. How fair is it to give this completely untalented brat millions of dollars for a song that took about 5 minutes to make, when there are thousands of talented, and brilliant musicians struggling to make it?Actually, after discussing this with some friends, we have determined that Soulja Boy is exactly what the game needs. Sometimes you don't realize you need help until you have reached rock bottom! So, thank you Soulja Boy! Thank you for showing us that we are, indeed, at rock bottom for hip hop.
We can only go up from here.....
P.S.
My only hope, is that he fades out like last year's idiot Mike Jones!
Or, at the very least, GET A GHOST WRITER!!!!
